The Civilization Laboratory

The  Civilization  Laboratory or CIV:LAB  is  a  3X5  meters  tactical  art-­space  lab,  found   temporarily  in  University  of  the  Philippines  College  of  Fine  Arts,  dedicated  to   research  and  design  on  sustainable  and  alternative  living  initiated  by  a  Studio   Arts  Department  undergrad  thesis  student.  The  lab  also  acts  as  a  site  to  critically   engage  civilization  and  find  ways  to  survive  through  shared  experiences  of  man-­made  and  eco  disasters.  Simultaneously,  the  lab  will  serve  as  an  incubator  for  art  installations  and  direct  actions.

The aims of CIV:LAB

  1. To  serve  as  a  temporary  hub  among  the  network  of  anti-­authoritarian   activists-­artists-­artisans  commonly  working  on  the  issue  of  ecological   destruction.
  2.  Conduct  talks  and  lectures  related  to  art,  ecology  and  resistance.
  3.  Initiate  workshops  on  hydroponics,  solar  power,  monkey  wrenching  and
    various  forms  of  sustainable  life  and  living.
  4. Research  and  design.
